The installation of the world recognized e-learning platform Blackboard has been completed in 8 Bulgarian universities.
For the short period of 18 months Ballistic Cell has implemented Blackboard in the following universities: The American University in Bulgaria, the University “Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov” – Burgas, the Military Academy „G. S. Rakovski“, the College of Economics and Administration in Plovdiv, the Forestry University, the Medical University “Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov “– Varna, the Technical University of Sofia through the Engineering Pedagogical Faculty in Sliven and the South-West University “Neofit Rilski”.
“We believe that education should be interactive and accessible to all and we are happy to offer innovative solutions for the students, lecturers and the administration of the universities and in this way we help to raise the level in Bulgarian education,“ said Mr. Yulian Petkov, company manager, after the completion of the projects.
Three of the modules of the platform have been implemented in the universities: Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate and Blackboard Mobile, whose features create efficient learning content using a variety of web-based tools; they integrate world-class editorial content in e-learning; they transfer the interactive teaching and learning on mobile devices, providing the students and lecturers with instant access to their courses and content wherever they are; they allow for training and work on group projects in real time and many more.
The process of implementation of the modules has included training of 407 lecturers and 21 administrators from the universities listed above.
The challenges the company faces in the process of implementation and training are of a different nature:
- Different levels of computer knowledge and skills of the lecturers
- Lack of educational materials in electronic format
- Making migration of online courses from other e-learning systems
- Providing a language pack in Bulgarian for the system Blackboard Learn
- Adaptation and alignment of terminology specific for the field of higher education
- Updating the system and the emerging new versions
“These challenges, as well as the short period of implementation and training, have further increased the ambition of our entire team to continue to give all of ourselves for the realization of the best solutions in the field of e-learning and distance learning to improve the education in Bulgaria,“ Mr. Petkov added.
